Heyi

Instead of Pickathon, I went to a concert in Cotonou featuring this artist…

And adorable, graceful Pepe Oleka

And also went with one of my colleagues from UNHCR (Elvyre) out to visit her mom’s village (Heyi) where they fish and make salt…

On our way across the lake…

Elvyre’s sister Catherine.

Elvyre’s mom and her sisters

Nelly and Senalide

Salt filters

Salt drying…

Boiling salty water down…

The finished product!

Calabasks… (spelling??)

Elvyre and her daughter Senalide

Carrying a bag of salt back with us across the valley!
